My research interest is in the broad areas of social and environmental history of 18th to 20th century Assam. Engagement with the social and environmental history of the region has, over the years, led me to take special focus on the agrarian and ecological history.

*The Turbulent River: An Environmental Biography of the Brahmaputra
[This forthcoming work from the Oxford University Press explores the environmental history of the river Brahmaputra and its floodplain surrounding. It begins in deep historical time and travels until the contemporary period. Based on wide ranges of archival sources, the book aims to explore known and unknown facets of the Brahmaputra from a historical perspective.]
* Suryya Kumar Bhuyan: A Life in History (Birth of Modern Historical Quest in Assam): Suryya Kumar Bhuyan could be considered as one of the finest scholar of history in the 20th century Assam. He edited pre-British chronicles, wrote several classical texts examining several key aspects of Assam history and established organisations devoted to the study of history. This biographical work tells the birth of modern historical discipline in Assam.
* Patharughator Pora to Dalipuranlai: A monograph (in Assamese) which engages with the 1894 peasant uprisings in Assam, popularly known as ‘Patharughator Ran.
